What do you want people to know about Baltimore?
What makes Baltimore special to me is our grit, determination, and unrelenting love for each other. If you’re from Baltimore, you know what it’s like to love and be loved by the city and the great people in it. There is no other place in the country where a big city has felt like a smaller, close community of caring citizens.
Nevan Edwards
Community advisory board
As a youth growing up in Baltimore, Nevan Edwards (he/him/his) understood deeply the change needed to the way the city supports its youth. When he found out about the possibility of serving on Baltimore Promise’s Community Advisory Board he knew it was an opportunity to give back to the same community that helped raise him.
As a graduate of Baltimore City College and Wake Forest University, Nevan understood both the limited nature of opportunities present in Baltimore as well as the lack of tools available preparing Baltimore youth for the world at large. In returning to Baltimore, Nevan has worked as a policy fellow for the Wes Moore Campaign for Governor and now works as a community legal advocate for cannabis expungement, serving the Baltimore area with Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Services.
Nevan is excited for a new type of challenge and opportunity advocating for youth opportunities in Baltimore.
